Welcome to Carondelet! As we start preparing course schedules for the upcoming school year, we would like to gather your preference for modern language.

Carondelet partners with De La Salle in order to provide a wide variety of language options - Spanish, French, Italian, Latin, and American Sign Language. Please see the below information to understand the significance of any choice selected.

Carondelet Classes:
- French (runs Level 1 through AP French)
- Spanish (runs Level 1 through AP Spanish)
- ASL (runs levels 1 through 3)*
  
  *Please note: ASL is typically reserved for students with a documented learning difference or via special waiver. Please make sure you clearly explain the motivation for taking this class in the section provided.
Courses Available to Carondelet Students but Offered at DLS
(note: any course taken on DLS campus will be run and managed by that campus.):
- Latin (runs Level 1 through AP Latin)
- Italian (runs Level 1 through AP Italian**)
  
  **Please note: While Italian does have an AP exam, there are currently no accredited online classes available for this option. This means that should you relocate to another school, need to remediate a class, or need to complete part of the courses online for any other reason, this option is not available.

Carondelet plans for a certain number of sections for each language each year. This, by extension, means that there are a limited number of spots in each language. For this reason, if sections fill up, we will have to divert students to their second choice.

Placement Exam:

Students interested in taking Spanish or French 2 (or beyond) will need to take the placement exam. The test will take about 60 minutes and will include listening, reading, writing and speaking (only for students who are native/heritage speakers and might qualify for Spanish 3). Students that are interested in taking a higher level Italian or Latin course will need to coordinate with De La Salle.
